Description
Shangri-La has some of the best climbing on the I-90 corridor, with clean, high friction rock reminiscent of the Gun Show, Bob's wall, and the Blackstone wall at Si. The crag has a number of great routes from 5.10 to 5.12. There are two trad lines, a two pitch line, and sport routes from 50 to 100 feet high.
This area is East and South facing, dries quickly after a shower, and can get warm in the middle of summer days. Routes are more sparsely bolted than elsewhere at Exit 38 and grades are more in line with Index. Those who love to climb at the Index Lower Town Wall will enjoy this secluded oasis. Alpine views add to the ambience.
Info, topo, and beta are here: Shangri-La information follows a description of the FA of Blade Runner.

Getting There
The Far Side area of X38 has several East-facing crags in a line: Interstate Park, Eastern Block, Squishy Bell, and Headlight Point. East of these crags is a giant talus field. Shangri-La is on the Eastern and Southern faces of the buttress across this talus field. Cross the talus, aiming for the bottom of the buttress. Follow cairns to the crag. You will pass below the buttress and a giant tree, ascend a short talus section East of the buttress, enter the forest above this talus, and go straight up a hundred feet in the forest. Shangri-La is 15-20 minutes from the trail head, 5 minutes past the crags listed above, and well worth the walk.
