Shady side is aptly named for its northern facing wall.
The routes on the Shady Side can be identified by a number on top of the cliff as well as on the face at the bottom of the climbs. The number is close to where the rope should hang for a given climb. Top anchors are all in position. Bottom has some large boulders (some with anchors) and trees that can be used as anchors. Everything from 5.7 to 5.12 and 25-30 feet tall. Really easy to setup anchors at the top because you can walk on a grass pathway. Picnic tables at the bottom. Nice bark under the cliffs so your ropes donít get dirty.
Routes 1 - 25ish are in the north area. Routes continue along the wall behind the trees in the middle and continue through the south area. Walking path runs right in front of both areas.
There is a frisbee golf course just before the north wall. If you follow the grass up around you will see the start of one of the holes. Also above the first part of the cliffs is a Pavilion, park, toys, and bathrooms.
The Shady Side is located on South 5th Ave. in Pocatello. It is below the Fort Hall Replica and Upper Ross Park. Park at the north or south end of the park. This crag is right on a busy road so be aware with small kids and dogs.
