The chockstone guarding the path to the Schoolhous...

Description

One of two crags that faces south (the other is Super Slab), making it a nice morning crag for those colder days. A nice area for beginners to practice leading, or climbing, or just a place to stay warm. Crag has four 5.7s on it, listed from left to right.

Getting There

Follow the directions to Big Pine Wall. Walk directly PAST Big Pine wall and through a corridor, passing under a chockstone. Schoolhouse slab is actually the south end of the same block that has Big Pine Wall.

Climb the center of Schoolhouse Slab, moving upward on cobbles of all shapes and sizes. Seemed hardest about 12' up, and again after the last bolt. This climb is listed as a "Toprope" in 'Taos Rock', but has now been recently bolted so now it's another fun and safe lead for beginner leaders on Schoolhouse Slab....[more]   Browse More Classics in NM
