Scenic Point Bouldering

Fun quiet area with some classics worth checking out. Good views of The Primal Wall area. The boulders are along a ridge line and offer spectacular views hence the name Scenic Point. Very underrated place when it comes to Black Hills bouldering. Obscure to some if you know the area then Scenic Point is worth checking out! The boulders sit along the  old Breezy Point Mountain Bike Trail. Famed climber Dennis Horning used to ride this trail daily when he was climbing in the Black Hills. Brent Kertzman and Mikel Cronin likely developed the modern day bouldering here. The area sat quiet until the early 2000s when Dan Dewel, Josh Dreher, Blake Workman, Kai Segurd and Bo Fuks started exploring more of the potential. This group left behind some of the "newer" classics and hard projects for the future. Chris Hirsch and Aaron Stetzer established 2 of the hardest problems in this area a couple years back. Both have been unrepeated.

Expect the area to yourself as not many people visit back here. This is one of my favorite places to boulder in the Black Hills. Similar to the Way Too Highs of Iron Mountain. This area is more or less a great circuit area as a whole. The boulders are placed almost perfect for large or small circuits. The climbing here tends to be unique and unlike any other in the Black Hills. Everything from dynos, font-esque slopers, perfect incuts and crimps and even gastons!
