Description Suggest change

When properly formed, Sand Castle forms an incredibly thick and relatively steep pillar. It is one of the better and bigger routes in the park.

Location Suggest change

Located in the park itself at Pictured Rock Cave.

GPS Coordinates for Base/Getting There Suggest change

Coordinates: 42.976667,-91.129253

Getting There: Drive into the main part of the park and follow the signs for the boat landing. Park at the boat landing (it would be easier to access from Homestead Campground, but it doesn't appear that this is plowed in the winter). From the boat landing walk up the road past the point where the trail crosses the road, and continue further along the road until you see signs for the Sugar Maple Nature Trail as it runs parallel to the road. Leave the road here, but do not follow the trail. Instead continue southeast into a major drainage and follow it uphill to the point where it divides. At this point you should be able to see the railings for a trail near the head of the left fork of the drainage. Follow the left fork uphill to the base of the route.
