So I went over the FAQs for RR; thanks Darren in Vegas that was super helpful; and just had a quick question. I've never been to RR before, how crowded is it mid january? Not gonna change anything about my trip, just curious.

When is peak season and when is it less crowded (during the fall, winter and spring, obviously its probably not too crowded when its 115 degree in the summer).

Crowded & peak season for...bouldering? sport? trad?

Sunny canyons? Shady canyons? Etc.

RR is a huge place and offers options to get away from the crowds, usually.

ah, well Weston L its january, so probably not gonna be chasing shade...
I will be doing moderate sport and trad ; choosing from what I read in the RR FAQs

I'll be there between tuesday and friday, probabl taking one day off to let skin heal.

Mid-week and you should be fine on both fronts. Enjoy the classics!

This weekend was the end of winter break for most colleges. It should clean out a bit now. Two weekends ago the road from red springs to kraft had cars parked on both sides. 70's this week so you might brave some shady areas if it doesn't get too windy.

The thing about going in the cold winter is that the sunny moderate climbs like Birdland will be everyones goal, so they'll be mire crowded, while shady classics will be empty... So bottom line less people... Can still be crowded

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
