Just moved from California to Charlotte, looking to start getting out to some of the southern stone everyone raves about. Any beta on the best time of year to hit Rocktown? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

Cool, I'll be at Rumbling Bald on Saturday. Psyched to sample all that's around. Have family in Atlanta, and I hear RT is super good.

ROCKTOWN IS AWESOME

it looks great, i've wanted to go there since last time I lived in the east.

Obv the winter is the best time. Check the hunting closures first...it's closed at the moment.

Don't forget your permit too...heard the rangers/wardens have been out checking a lot lately.

Also, have you checked out the Dixon Boulders in Crowders Mtn State Park? Good little set of boulders pretty close to Charlotte. A guidebook was published last year for the area too.
