Thanks for all the replies everyone, and there has been some solid advice. The main reason that I have begun to start looking into the more niche options is mostly because I thought that if I got into it early, I would have a better chance to stay in it long term. That being said, I am consistently applying to small arch firms as well in hopes that something will turn up. (it is kinda slim pickings out there right now)
I will research some of those places that were mentioned early in the thread and see if they have any positions that need filled.
But mostly I would like to be closer to rock, being able to get a couple of pitches in after work would be badassssss.
As far as the cracks in gyms conversation goes, I personally have yet to find one that is featured or sticky enough to get even close to an outside crack. It seems as though they get far to much travel to do any good inside. What needs to start happening is for people to set two vertical holds together with a bit of space between so that people can practice ring locks etc, while at the same time being able to move the holds around (unlike the built in crack) a lot of times the quality of the gym is made by the ability of the setters they hire. my 2 cents
