My girlfriend and I are on a road trip around the country hiking and climbing as many national parks as possible and will be in Yosemite this coming week. We climb moderate sport and haven't broken into trad yet so we know we will miss out on the classics. Looking for route/area suggestions and anyone needing partners!! We're happy to belay on projects to try something new!

Any suggestions on cheap/free spots to tent camp or stealth van in or just outside the park?

Thanks
-Dan

Dan did you make it to the valley yet? If so what are the conditions. The webcams showed snow this morning.

We made it! It snowed Sunday night into Monday morning leaving an inch or so in the valley and 4 or so 2k up from there. Yesterday everything was pretty wet but by the end of today south facing walls look pretty dry, north facing either streaky or still wet in some locations. We've just been hiking around so far though so I couldn't tell you how dry the bottom of the routes are. Sorry for the late response, I didn't check my phone last night.

Cheers,
-Dan

For sport, you should check out Pat and Jack (5.7-5.11), Five and Dime cliff (5.8-5.11), and Lower Cathedral Base Routes (if you have a randomly warm day). Also, there are some bolted lines down toward El Portal on the Parkline Slab and the Cookie Sheet.

Have fun out there!

I'm headed up tomorrow. I think it'll be good conditions. See you all out there.
