Rice Bucket Workout

Has anybody ever consistently done the rice bucket workout? Have you noticed any improvements of any sort? Is it a worthwhile workout to take up?

Additionally, what are other good work outs to compliment climbing in order to balance out muscles?

Thanks.

Those other threads don't contain much.

I've done a variation/similar one to the Steve Edwards one that Luke linked the youtube vid in one of those other threads.

It's for antagonist muscles/balance, not for developing climbing specific strength. I do 1 minute sets of each motion, with no rest between. Seems to help stave off wrist issues and medial epycondol..whatever can't spell it without looking it up...golfer's elbow.

I also do some eccentric wrist pronator deals with a dumbell with the weights off of one side as another golfer's elbow preventative.

I've got a ~3.5 gallon mop bucket full of rice sitting inside a larger square rubbermaid bin (to catch the spillover), works great. Only takes about 10-15lb of rice to fill it.

I love Asian style training.

Train harder.

This is my favorite. Fill buckets with water, carry buckets, don't lower buckets. Repeat.

Those are the least helpful links on the subject i have seen. Will is right on. Builds antagonist. I do it after a hangboard workout typically. The dpm video covers the exercises. Nothing new, martial artists have been doing this for years. Try push ups as well.

Could someone recommend clean rice, that keeps ur hands clean of white residue post work out?

I have been using the bucket for the past 2 months. I've filled my bucket with the cheapest white rice, called "riceland" grown in u.s. I do several sets in between typing, writing etc... but it requires me to wash my hands every time or else everything is permawhite for months... so this work out becomes more of a hassle.

Please respond if u know if particular brand of pre-washed or brown rice that would eliminate this issue.

Don't wake the dead!!

Wash your hands??? Or try rinsing the rice in a colander.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
