Rocky Mountain Rescue Group will have a couple dozen rescuers swarming over the Third Flatiron this evening for rescue training purposes. Most of our activity will be on the south west side, in the area of the traditional rappels and the Southwest Chimney - Slipslide ledge. We will driving up to Bluebell Shelter shortly after 6:00 p.m. We plan to clear the area by 1:00 a.m. Sunday morning.
This plan is contingent on our availability. If we get committed to an actual rescue before or during the evening, we will pull back from the Third Flatiron as appropriate.
While we will make an effort to easily allow climbers to pass us on the descent, it is likely that anyone trying to descend between say 7 pm and 10 pm will run into us and encounter delays. We anticipate minimal rockfall hazard, but all our people will have helmets on.
