Just thought I'd give you FlameThrowers another outlet.
Really, I'm sick of getting emails that my "'Friends' at Mountain Project have responded to the Shoplifting At Neptunes" thread.
Feel free to act like children and throw sand in eachother's eyes all you want:

DEATH TO REI!!!!!!!!!!!

In all seriousness though, people just need to care less. So REI is the Walmart of the outdoor sporting world. BFD.

When did this shift to hating REI happen? I had always thought the climbing community loved REI.

Just making that comparison discredits the statement.

The climbing community loves to take advantage of REI.

I shop there a lot, they're currently my only local option, and I dont have any issues with the company. Sure, you have to sort through all kinds of unnecessary camp gadgets, but half the vans I see at any given destination are spewing over with that shit, so it appears a good portion of the climbing community shops there.

Book me, officer.

Pokemon is the Walmart of Japangamation. Don't buy Pikachu, he's the Ross of fluffy toys!

Yeah, too much time on everyone's hands.

Anyone hate Wendy's, just to get us back onto a productive topic of relevance to Internet Drones?

I shop at REI because they frequently have 20% off sales and I can return whatever I buy no questions asked. I'd like to see a mom and pop store top that. No offense to the latter, but those days are gone. Same reason why we (most of us sane ones, anyway) no longer carry hammers and pitons on climbs: it's progress, man.

Calling REI the Walmart of the outdoor world is just unfair. It's not unfair to me, mind you, but to all of the little childrens who just want to buy a new rock shoe because 5.10 won't give them any for free.

Besides, Scheels IS the Walmart of the outdoor world. That place sucks!
