red rock locals!

Some friends and I were going to head to RR this weekend but the climbing weather.com forecast is calling for intermittent rain starting today.

If anyone is willing/able to drop some real time info on conditions in the next few days I'd really appreciate it as I don't want to drive out there if it's actually been raining in the days prior. Thanks regardless!

Cheers

Mike

Mike,

Few sprinkles on us out on top of White Rock Springs (the north end of the loop) around 1pm. Nothing yet that would shut down climbing for a day or two. Looking darker by the minute however.

Will keep you updated.

Now worries Andy M. And right on, thanks a lot Andrew. I'm hoping for the best but have resigned myself to possibly sticking in so cal (which isn't too shabby either)!

I had the same experience as Andrew in First Creek today. A couple drops but nothing more.

No rain at Calico Hills today and Pine Creek was clear at 2:30 PM. No rain down by Black Velvet as far as we could see.

This Thursday AM forecast (5105 feet) indicates 20% to 50% chance of rain the next few days, at the top end of that range today and Saturday night.

I am interested to hear whether that pans out. Thank you all for providing actuals!

Bill, this is the weather report I use:

forecast.weather.gov/MapCli…

Will be out there starting at 8am this morning and will let you know what I experience/see when I get back.

Thanks, Andrew. NWS is great!

(I'll often futz with the map to get a forecast targeting an elevation comparable to being up in the canyons.)

At 3:10pm today it rained pretty good back in Pine Creek Canyon, but it lasted about only 15 minutes and then the clouds broke up and blue shone through. If it continues to be sunny and windy tonight (it was decently windy as the evening continued ~20mph) then I don't think it will be a game changing wetness and climbing will still be good tomorrow.

This really only stands for Pine Creek though, it may have persisted in the canyons to the South for longer, I couldn't tell.

We climbed all day around Willow Springs. No rain baring a few sprinkles about 3:30PM. They did not last

The weather here is fickle. Had plans to do a quick session at first or second pullout, but it looked bad out there around 2 when I decided to ride the bike instead! Life is hard!

Planning on driving out to red rock in 10m for some climbing at the first pullout. Anyone have last minute conditions update if it's good to climb before I drive all the way over there?

I am not in the canyon anymore today, but it's been raining for the last two hours in Vegas. It started to rain just as I left the canyon. I would scrap your trip and go somewhere else.

edit: nm, you're from Henderson.
