Quebec partner wanted Thursday, Friday, or Monday (driving from Montreal) to escalade

I'll be in Montreal for a week of work but can get out one day to climb midweek. Would prefer to find a partner locally to rideshare but it would be nice to get out anywhere for some fall color and new climbing experiences. I'm not really that picky, but climbing in Canada would be sweet.

Have a full rack but no Quebec guidebooks and don't do any Francais. I can lead up to 9s but would probably go down a couple grades in a new place on trad. Happy to follow, too.

Hi

I missed your post but if I knew earlier this week I'd have been more than happy to give a tour of MTL's area, I take back my kids tonight... So maybe next time? Quebec people are known to be nice with visitors and usually we are not cheap about infos. In the meantime if you're looking for something close to MTL, there is very few options, mainly Rigaud (40 min from MTL) or the Classic crag is Val David with a huge variety of routes( about 1.5H north of MTL) but nothing is compared to the Gunks! ;-) Good luck

You can also post on escaladequebec.com forum and there's a couple montreal facebook groups.
Then there's a meetup group but they're mostly gym/sport group.

If you want to head a little east, I could show you around one of the crags in the eastern townships. The closest to you is Orford, which is a little over an hour's drive on the 10. I live in Sherbrooke so I would meet you there.

Otherwise, you could always do some bouldering in Val David.

Though the best climbing near Montreal is in the Adirondacks..

Orford is a bit limiting if he's leading 9s.
Near Montreal with plenty of people going and easier to get a ride:
Val-David (lots of choice, trad and sport)
Tranchant (More a sport crag)
Montagne d'Argent (think climbing gym but outside)
Rigaud (close, short routes, sport)

A bit less traveled but great cliffs:
Julien-Labedan (sport and trad, easy to set up top-ropes)
Weir (not much under 5.9 though)

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
