Description

An old-school crag with some spectacular routes in the 5.11 and 5.12 range, primarily. The climbing is quite variable and the crux is most always a bit higher up. There are lots of routes here and it's located directly across from the Bärenschlucht camping area so if you climb at this level, projecting something at your limit here is simple. Just set up camp and go!
The crag receives sun in the morning, but is otherwise pretty shady despite being completely exposed. It's main drawback is the street is right there, so you can really hear the traffic driving by, which makes weekends here pretty annoying.

Getting There

From Tüchersfeld, head on the main road towards Pottenstein. After 1.7km there's a little parking area on the left. Park here, cross the street and walk 20m up the hiking trail and turn left. Follow the trail 250m to reach the wall.

Among the most classic endurance routes in the Frankenjura, Station 53 follows an impressive line of intricate pockets up a seemingly endless wall. This continuously overhanging wall offers just enough respite to keep the pump building as you ascend out of the surrounding forest canopy. Begin with easy moves along a detached flake. A few slab moves work left to an easy stance below an intimidating bulge. Deceptive moves clear the bulge, but the angle lessens ever so slightly as the pump grow...[more]   Browse More Classics in International
