Epic free solo with a pack on
I think a "black-list" would be a great idea for MP, honestly. I went on one outing with a fellow MP-er, and he was great. Safe, fun to talk to, good climber (Dave Schultz)

But, we all aren't going to get this lucky, and I think it is only right to report the duds as they are uncovered to protect everyone who uses this site to find partners and climb more. Letting an unsafe climber or belayer go unchecked would be dangerous...God knows the Gunks already has a healthy supply of unsafe morons...

The title of the post is PSA, which stands for public service announcement, not public senseless accosting. This is for everyone's benefit who uses the site and I don't think it should be taken lightly, people!

Definitely sounds sketchy. Either way, I don't think you needed to take this to the internet. Your email, and his response, sounds like you had already talked some sense into him. T_jones

Really? It didn't sound to me like he had any sense talked into him. It sounded to me like he fully admitted taking his hands completely off his ATC for several minutes, and then proceeded to feel like it was no big deal because his leader was on a ledge on an easy pitch, he even seemed to imply that maybe the leader somehow deserved this kind of belay because he placed too much gear and didn't rap fast enough?

How I Send
Thread of the day.

Okay, this thread poses two great problems with the current state of our society. One the "phone addiction" and two the "pussification of America."

I would have rapped my slow ass down the base of the climb and slapped that phone out of his hand. Be a man. If you are that upset by his apparent lack of interest in your personal safety then do something.

Both parties are in the wrong, but ZachR you are looking like the bigger douche and I checked Erik's FB - total douchebag.

I move that we delete this thread after page 10.

Tough Mantle Problem. Haven't sent yet...
You can tell a person is a kook when they refer to free soloing as free climbing. It's just not something you get wrong if you've been climbing for any length of time. Plus, he's a 9/11 conspiracy theorist.

Both the OP and Erik suck at life, but in different ways. Erik may be a kook, but at least he doesn't come off as a puss.

If anyone is interested in an investment opportunity, I am currently accepting funds for the construction of the prototype iATC-S. Said belay device includes a sturdy, scratch resistant cover and case for your iPhone enabling secure and safe belaying and phone access. Jeremy Hand

I'm in- but for investment only. I have ADD already, and such a device would detract from the overall aethetics of belaying for me.

Me again!
Ahhh, unprotected anal-sex with strangers. The internet sure is a "great" way to "meat" new friends. I don't know what is better, chufftastic noobs "meating" each other in the wilderness, or gaping punters whining about their "meating" on the internet. Either way, random hookups are fun! J Q

Pretty much.

But when Iceman comes after you saying you're dangerous, you gotta tell him to stick a big black [redacted] in his ass. It's the only way!

OP adds a completely unnecessary "f u" to his e-mail, douchebag belayer retaliates in kind and kicks it up a notch.

All of a sudden OP decides that his "conscience", that would have been fine with an apology a few minutes before, now simply must have a public outing of douchebag belayer.

Jake, from the outside you are exactly like Eleanor, compulsively posting your stream of conscience, 90% which is drivel. How about chilling a bit? It is like a flood of sewage over the beach of MP. Becoming aware of ones internal dialog and setting it aside is classically one of the basic steps to opening awareness. It allows room for something else to come in.
