Description From east side of bluff walk south past project wall. Head up to the rim of bluff and look for boulders laying on top of each other. Climb out from the cave here is the project. Pads and spotters needed for sure.
Location Walk through saddle, and head right (south). Pass project wall and keep moving up bluff line. You will see boulders laying on one another. This is the cave.
Protection Pads and spotters.

can someone post a pic of this? is it long? is it cool?
By Brian Runnells Nov 6, 2008
didn't give it a thorough inspection but it looks like there aren't enough holds to make a full line
By SteveSchultz Mar 20, 2009
Gave it a little look over and looks like there might be a line. It'd be VERY hard and looks like a stopper move coming over the lip. interesting though.

please add a pic! WHo is going out next?

You wouldn't like it buddy, forget that you read about it ;-)

haha, now I really want to see it. Will someone take a picture of this thing? I will decide for myself. I am coming through WI on a Five Ten tour May 4thish... I will be stopping anywhere close to the 94 freeway.

nothing to see here... pass on through sir, no reason to stop. Seriously though The mound isn't that far from 94 at all. There is a large rail on the underbelly of this "balanced boulder" so plenty of holds to support coming out to the lip. The short time I looked at it the getting over the lip part of it would seem to be very difficult if do able at all. You could also get the 2nd ascent of Chaos... and also there's that hard seam project to the right of it.. I guess though I didn't look for it or notice it. Also there's lots of other rock all up and down the mound to scope out if you wanted to. Ohh hey, when you go, can you take a picture for me and put it up on here. That'd be great :-)

ha, thanks I will check it out.. anything else cool? anywhere?

speaking of Chaos if you move quick you can beat Steve to the 2nd since he keeps PUNTING!!! LOL. as far as other cool shit, i wish i had some super secret coolness to share with you, however, I do not unfortunately. But like I said there is plenty of rock near the mound that I didn't have time to check out the one time i was there. You could also check out the lake and the hard pieces on the west bluff. Not to far from 94 either.

AHHHH! I need to stop punting. bad. The project to the right of chaos looks pretty cool. sharp and small crimps. I do actually think the project roof will go. It's not a pretty or proud line but I do think it will be a cool addition when it goes. I've got a couple pics of the project cave that I'll try to post them. They don't really capture it though.

I wish I had more pictures of the area, but when we first started coming here I never brought a camera. The roof would be a great addition to the area. A bunch of us should head up there and give it our best, I'm sure we could piece it together. On the southern bluff of rattlesnake there is a couple projects on the north end up from the weather tower. I recall one boulder in particular that looked super rad and hard. There are some other cool lines on the southern side of the bluff we put up too, with a few additions to be added. Nic although Quincy is "no-climbing" sneak a peek at the direct line up the main boulder, one of my favorites in the state. You didn't just hear that from me though.

Dude let me know when ur going I would be psyched for sure

this looks rad! However it isn't what I thought the project cave was according to the directions. I thought it was this suspended boulder thing. This looks awsome though!

You are right sweaty I thought remo had listed Star destroyer but it was the other project.

We checked this out again yesterday and I did not take a picture on purpose. The whole bottom piece in that sandy, sugar stone that just keeps scraping away. I am also certain that part of it will yank off the wall. I will go on a limb and say this is not climbable in it's current state because of the rock quality... as Egg-nuts would say "my 2 cents." lol Sorry to burst bubbles.

Do people not say that anymore? Am I dating myself here? My $0.02.
By SteveSchultz May 8, 2009
Now where are the other pics of people actually climbing????
By sweatpants From: Broomfield, CO May 8, 2009
haha I wish. Sincerely. that good sloping ledge that would lead you to the lip and better rock is just crap underneath. feeling around on it I grabbed a crimp underneath and tore it off. I'll go on a limb and speak for Melin and steve also to say it was pretty disapointing... not the only disapointment of the day... And Chris it's nothing you say in particular that dates you... we all just know you're old balls :-)

Did you guys get on the star destroyer project, or just on this choss pile?
By sweatpants From: Broomfield, CO May 8, 2009
nah we didnt try either of them

This balanced boulder/cave feature is very cool, but it does look like it's that sugary sandstone underneath where the rail is, the kind you keep brushing to get rid of the sand, and it keeps brushing away... Also, there are swallows nesting under there right now. To keep the no photo tradition going, we did not take any photos of this thing. :)
