The 4 person "anon" panel they interviewed was too small to mean anything. When the dude was talking about different strains having different effects I was thinking he needs a nice one hitter.

....shit...what were talkin about? I forgot

Interesting. 9 News Denver's headline article on their website right now is "Getting High Before Hiking Can Be Dangerous." It also directly blames a climbing accident in CCC on someone using pot. Just a little sensational.

I'm a little disapointed that they didn't mention how Doritos play into it.

I wish they'd talk to me. 20 years of everyday smoking, backpacking guide in the Grand Canyon, and then I move to CO at 38.
Within 3 years I "finished" the 14ers and smoked weed on every summit. Actually, I smoked morning, noon, and night, but also on every summit. haha.
At 41, I'm in the best shape of my life. I learned to ski 2 years ago and already skied 2 14ers, and after having learned to rock climb a few years ago, I am leading 5.6-5.7 trad with ease. All the while smoking weed. Like I said, I wish they'd talk to me.

Almost ALL of the baddass climbers and skiers that I know smoke pot.

I kinda feel like your accomplishments and smoking weed are pretty much mutually exclusive. I mean that's like saying you did all that and ate a donuts everyday (almost). And I feel that way about the article too.

Congrats on getting after it though. :o)

Are you saying Washington is a state that has the BEST climbing?

The huge majority of climbers I know smoke. The best and most focused, do not. The two strongest climbers I know are Teetotalers

There is a surprising amount of world class climbing in Washington. It's quite a wonderful little known fact. CO and CA can have their crowds and their dubstep. Come up to the Pacific NW and enjoy a hazy climbing adventure in both OR and WA.

I know what you mean, remember MJ is not "fully legal" anywhere in the US; it's fully illegal under federal law, which trumps state law.
The Obama administration has chosen not to enforce federal law, but who knows what the next administration will do; Chris Christie at least has said you better enjoy your MJ while you can b/c he's going to shut it all down!

I am often wrong, but I believe you are mistaken here. Knowing The supremacy of federal law over state law only applies if Congress is acting in pursuance of its constitutionally authorized powers.

As for Marijuana. The Feds have never passed any law declaring it illegal. Instead they established the FDA and deemed that all substances would be classified under that administration. FDA then classified MJ as having no practical medical application and banned its sale, along with a long list of others. Feds can come in and try to break it up... but these states will not lay down. Too much money in taxes coming in. I predict massive legal battle to reach the Supreme Court. Which I have zero confidence in when I consider some of their recent rulings.

I live in the NW. I love climbing in WA and I understand that their is amazing. As for OR, if that is your idea of good you must be high.

Smith Rock? I've not been yet, but has been described by many as a world class sport climbing destination.
