Hey all,
Is there any BLM or forest service land near St. George that is free and available for camping? With so much open land around it seems like there must be, but I've looked around a few times on trips without having any luck. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks!

I stayed up at the Lava Point camp ground not too long ago. The BLM office told us there would be a fee, but there was no where to pay or any where to register.

Here, it says no fee.

They have pit toilets too, and a badass view. But its about 2 hrs from St. George.

We camped a few nights at the base of Prophesy Wall. It was great.

Lava Point is very nice, if you can snag one of the few spots available. There are several other camping spots lower down on Kolob Terrace road, though pretty far from St. George.

Prophecy Wall looks like a great spot, I will check it out.

What's the camping situation like at Moe's? From reading the page here it sounds like some campers have been trashing the place. Would it be best to avoid it entirely or would a couple low profile campers be fine?

My "go to" would be Green Valley Gap. There have been very few folks out there when I've camped. Green Valley Gap is a great crag and it's only a 10 minute drive to the crags on Bluff Street. Prophecy is also phenomenal.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
