Start 5 or so moves before the beginning of Potato Chip.

This (inferior) version of the problem begins on two low crimps and does a hard first move of a bad right hand crimp. Then traverses into the start of Potato Chip and finishes the same.

I wouldn't say the SDS is inferior. It adds a few moves that make the cruxes on PC a bit harder, nothing more.

Not sure if this is consensus, but the start I used was about 7 feet left of the standard start of Potato Chip, with feet in a miniature hole and two low crimps with a fairly long first move straight up, followed by a traverse right to the start of PC.
