Posting Event Notices so they show up on frontpage?

How do I go about submitting an event notification so it shows on the homepage?

Go to the location where the event is happening. Think of the general area where people will come from (like "Colorado" or "Boulder", not "Eldorado Canyon"). On that page there is a blue-ish button that says "Add Event".
