Description Suggest change

The Ponderosa Trail (SOUTH) has many boulders and walls just loaded with both old, new and freshly awaiting problems ready for develop.

The rock along the boulders and walls off this Trail system are of mostly good quality, but often hard on the hands. Given most of the rocks SOUTH facing nature while providing plenty of shade makes this stretch of trail climbable all year long if you know where to go.

Most of the climbing so far has been located on the NORTH side of the Trail with a few smaller but worth while blocks on the SOUTH side of the trail (Road Side).

One of the most notable rock features to date a long this trail is "The Spire." It's an interesting block that's truly representative of its name. It's tall with moderately hard climbing on great rock and is a must do on this trail system.

Other great notables await there turn to be posted!!!

Getting There Suggest change

From the first Sisters parking lot simply head left or West along the "Ponderosa Trail." This is the trail that roughly parallels "Buffalo Park Road." Keep your eyes looking to your right or North and you will definitely see some quality stone to play on. This is also the approach trail to finding "The Subterranean Wall."

If you park in the upper or second parking lot head EAST on the "Bluebird Meadow Trail" until it joins with the "Silver Fox Trail." At this junction continue EAST to meet up with the "Ponderosa Trail." The "Ponderosa Trail" is a full loop but if you want to explore the SOUTH side of the trail then keep an Easterly course while staying next to the road. If you stay on this trail long enough you will end up at the lower or first parking lot. Lots of rock to keep one busy for a long time so enjoy!!
