Tough Mantle Problem. Haven't sent yet...

Is the road to pine mountain open, and is the dirt road accessible to a regular car?

The road is open, though maybe earlier than the FS would have liked. I drove past there two weeks ago and it looked like someone crashed through the gate with a large vehicle. The gate is flopped over on the side. I know some folks who went up just yesterday. A low clearance car should be able to get up there just fine, but note that if the road hasnt been "plowed" of the winter rockfall you'll have to do some earth moving yourself.

I skied the road to the Reyes trailhead back in Febuary, and yeah, some meathead unhinged or just yanked down the gate in an attempt to drive up the road in the snow. Apparently they didnt get far cause their tracks stopped just around the first turn.

Anyways, the road is "officially" open and its condition is no worse than last year. There are a couple of big rocks on the road but they are not impeading. If you have a low clearence vehicle, dont worry just be careful and pay attention the road.

I was just there with my boys(kids)this weekend climbing and camping. The weather was great during the day, very cold and windy at night. Lots of non-climbers camped up there, so if you want a site you gotta get there Thursday or early Friday. Very thin crowds at the boulders themselves, just us locals. Enjoy brother.
