Access Issue: Closures
Details
Seasonal closures Feb. 15-July 31. Per the Denver Post:, the Cathedral Wall and all areas above the Loch Vale-Sky Pond Trail are closed to off-trail travel! Per this RMNP website, "Initial closures now occur in Feb. 15 and April, when raptors return to the region and scout for nesting sites. Areas containing general habitat preferred by raptors are closed during this time. Once raptors have selected nesting spots, the initial closures are lifted or adjusted. The specific areas which raptors choose for nesting sites are closed."
For additional information about raptor closures, please visit the Rocky Mountain National Parks area closures website.
General NPS climbing regulations for RMNP posted here.

Description
This is an officially named mountain but is really the high point of a spur extending east from The Divide, just south of Mt. Alice. Two routes climb the south-facing wall, and the 5th class West Ridge is an easy way to add this summit to a Mt. Alice adventure.
The solitude of this summit is worth the effort.

Getting There
From the Wild Basin trailhead, follow the trail to the west side of Thunder Lake, and then veer north up to Falcon Lake, directly below the peak. Tip: just before you reach the bridge crossing the creek at the base of the Calypso Cascades, about 1.3 miles in, there is a right turn one can take that shaves 1 mile or so off of the approach. The sign only suggests access to backcountry campsites, but the trail actually follows the creek all the way up to reconnect with the main trail.
