Description
This is an odd route. It's supposed to follow an arete like the name implies, but it begins by following a crack in something of a chimney, then after the first bolt it starts to get on the "arete". Unfortunately, it appears that a hold broke off, so that plus the amount of polish on the route make this previous 5.6 into a 5.10-. The crux is getting past the first bolt. Lieback the crack and balance on iffy footholds to reach a good position on the blunt, slabby arete. The rest of the route is very enjoyable and would get three stars if it wasn't for the unnaturally difficult beginning.
