Periodization Tweaking - The Mega-cycle?!

Maybe it's a case of boredom, or maybe I'm on to something. Here's my idea in blog form.

rocksropesandcrashpads.blog…

In short (Straight from post):

"The idea is to fit in two hangboarding cycles, with enough rest and variety to not plateau. From the first week of December, I'll have almost three months before sport climbing outside becomes a comfortable affair again. This winter will essentially break down into a mini-cycle with a full hangboarding phase, then a full cycle that aims to peak in the Spring as things begin to thaw out.

Here's how it'll break down. A mini-cycle consisting of week or two of intro ARC training, then four weeks of HYP, and a week or two of semi-focused power training. After a week of rest, I'll launch into the main cycle, with three weeks of ARC, five weeks of HYP, three weeks of focused campus/power training, then two weeks of dedicated PE training, which will slowly taper into route redpointing and peak season. Just to specify, my HYP workouts generally consist of three sessions a week, each session being a 10-set, 5-rep per set, 8 second on/off repeaters per rep, adding weight between sessions. There isn't any sound training knowledge behind this double-cycle, it's more of an experiment; one I'm happy to conduct on myself, hopefully with good results."

Like I said, it's more of an experiment, and I'll certainly share my results through the winter and into the spring. Thoughts, musings, ideas? Go!

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
