i just moved to the San Antonio area from Colorado. Looking for some places to climb. I am going camping at Pedernales next week with some friends. I heard rumors of some bouldering and maybe even top ropes there, however, I am having a hard time finding any info. This site alludes to some bouldering but doesn't list any routes. I bought all of the guidebooks the SA REI had for this area, but none include Pedernales. Any info would be appreciated.

The Texas Limestone Bouldering book has info on bouldering at pedernales. The dugout area is good but kinda tricky to find. Have fun bushwhacking around out there.

The bouldering area is off the Wolf Mountain trail as I recall. Go down Mescal Creek and look around off there. Bee Creek is still closed (sheesh) which never seems to change. That is a cool little creek walk when it is wet.

Also, at Wolf Mountain there are cliffs facing the river that appear to have had routes put in at some time. The hardware was pretty old the last time I looked, and the rock not so great. But go check it all out. Perhaps there are some hidden gems that could be brushed off and revitalized.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
