Description
This area is home to a cliff dwelling culture (Dogon people) that has existed in this region since as early as the 12th century. Although certain regions of this cliff band are off limits due to burial grounds in the walls themselves, there is a huge potential for many multi-pitch trad climbing routes on the surrounding cliffs. The Dogon have been able to support themselves today with the help of a growing tourism industry. By hiring a guide, one can avoid vendor harrassment aswell as avoid climbing on sacred ground. All in all, the Dogon people are extremely firendly and eager to help you.
