Patching holes in synthetic climbing clothes

I have a few holes in some of my pants and gaiters, mostly from crampon pokes, that are getting bad and need to be patched.

I'm skeptical that a normal iron on patch is going to work that well, if I can even heat some of these materials much without melting them. I don't think sewing is an option, I think some of the material is going to be too difficult.

Any suggestions on the best way to patch this stuff up? Is it just do what you can with traditional iron on patches and that's that?

thanks

I used tenacious tape on the inside and seamgrip on the outside. seemed to work out pretty well

I have used various iron-on patches to repair synthetic clothes with pretty good success. I would stitch the edges of the patch as well, but as long as you are careful, an iron shouldn't get hot enough to melt your clothing.

thanks for the replies, hadn't heard of the tenacious tape that looks like it's made just for this sort of thing along with the seam grip.

good to know about the iron ons.

I usually use tenacious tape, or if I can close the gap, sew it with fishing line. If you really want something rad man... Ya gotta catch a spider, preferably an orb weaver spider. Farm its silk maaaan, make some thread and BOOOOOM stronger than steel thread brah.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
