Description
The Parang Mountains (Munții ParĂ¢ng) are among Romania's high mountains (topping out above 2500 meters) and form a curved ridge above the city of Petrosani. The range is good for general mountaineering as it has access from a ski area which gets you as far as treeline. The steepest faces of the mountains are northeast and form a nice set of glacially carved bowls with steep chutes.
Parangul Mare is the highest peak in the range. There is plenty of rock on the north faces although the faces are not as big as in the Fagaras or Bucegi ranges.
