Palisade Glacier & Area Snow Conditions?

This weekend I might climb the Swiss Arete on Sill and descend the Palisade Glacier from Glacier Notch. Does anyone know how melted out and icy these sections currently are? We're hoping to avoid bringing any snow gear, but if we can get by with one axe (and maybe crampons) between the two of us, it would be nice to know.
