A new private property sign was recently posted (5/12/12) at the inflow of the pond. This hand written, taped to a tree sign designates where the State Park ends and where the private property begins.

The entire cliff face itself is actually owned by the town of woodbury. Some of the land at the bottom is privately owned. So technically you can legally climb in the "closed" area if you lower from the top and never touch the ground. However, the land owner of the house by the viewing wall area will come out and scream at you and call the cops. He feels he also owns the air above the ground that you are hanging in. Aparently this also applies to aircraft. So if your looking for a hasle, and are somewhat of a jack ass, feel free to employ this technique.
