Description

The Rail Road crag in Lake Oswego provides a nice after work session. The routes consist of broken columnar basalt roughly 35 feet tall. Many of the routes are low angle in the start and moderately steep at the finish. Because of this the RR crag is a great place to take new climbers/ new leaders. All routes are bolted and usually have cold shut anchors. There are 12 routes if you do not follow obvious lines of weakness; this make many of the lines quite contrived. Regardless of the RR crag's contrived nature, the place is actually quite fun.

There are 12 routes ranging from 5.7 to 5.11a, most of which are 5.7 to 5.9

Getting There

From Portland take I 5 south, get off at Cruz Way/ 217 exit towards Lake Oswego. Left on Lower Boones Ferry Rd, Merge right onto Country Club Rd. At the 8-way stop turn right onto Iron Mountain Rd. Turn Left on Berwick Rd. Follow through winding neighborhood approx .5 miles, Turn left on Troon rd. Park on right side of road near the rail road tracks. the crag is about 500 feet west.
