Looks like BD is unveiling the offset X4s at OR (assuming I didn't miss it somewhere else already):

Good to see more manufacturers offering offsets.

Here's a video of BD showing them off at the European show.

Hopefully they address the kinking issue with these. I've used a buddies X4's several times and pulling the trigger gets funky once they start to get some use on them, to the point where I had to bend the cable back just to get the trigger to pull. Regardless, they look like a nice addition to the Camalot line.

Sweet red and yellow sling. And I don't get how people are having such a difficult time with pulling the trigger when the stem is at a slight angle.

Can't wait to double up on offsets with these complimenting aliens.

anyone got any VS info on the mastercam offsets vs these new offsets?

Who really gives a shit? The only thing I see as positive with BD doing this is more competition. Hopefully this makes for a better marketplace for cams, meaning I can buy Fixe aliens for less than $60 on sale because BD is charging over $80 for their newest shiniest.

I've not actually used the new X4, but in talking with folks, they have said really no difference exists between X4 and MC, and that they ain't running out to buy these. Aliens are still niche equipment in my mind, and the MC is a higher quality product, obviously.

Aw man, then the cable is going to kink by 2 degrees and the entire world will explode.

THANKS OBAMA

I've climbed with mastercams and x4's in the last two months and the flex in the x4's is considerably better. They're much closer to aliens, which might be "niche" where you are, but where I am they are pretty standard.

At $70 I will stick to mastercams. I have the whole set except the 00 and have liked them but when I start adding offsets I think I will just stick with what I know and trust. seems people are going crazy for them because the have the Black Diamond name? They look just like aliens and MC'S and they have been out way longer so I was just trying to figure out the big deal. Maybe in the future I will get lucky and climb with someone who has them (x4) and get to take a test pitch with them.

Jake Jones wrote:"Retail price on this; about 75 euros... vary from country to country" LOL I would hope so. 75 euros is about 99 dollars at the current 1.32 dollars per 1 euro rate.
X4's retail for 75 Euro's (in Spain, anyways), so there is definitely a price markup for Europe.
Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
