HELP WANTED:
We are hiring (or rather, having trouble hiring) experienced climbers and backpackers for four positions at Camp Winton BSA outside of Jackson, CA.

Our rock climbing program needs two people
1 person aged 21 or over with experience teaching climbing in an outdoor setting.
1 person 16+ with experience climbing outdoors.

Our high adventure program is a paid backcountry expedition- 4 nights and 5 days out of camp climbing, backpacking, canoeing, and going for the summit of Mokelumne Peak. We need 2 people (1 female) to lead this program.
1 Director over age 21 ready to obtain BSA certification at National Camp School and lead the program for 5 weeks. MUST be experienced in backcountry climbing, paddling, backpacking, etc. Physically demanding.
1 Assistant (18+) very experienced in backcountry climbing, paddling, etc.

Pay is typical summer camp pay- just above minimum wage, but you get paid to climb and backpack.
Time commitment is 8 June through 26 July (high adventure) or 3 August (climbing)
Campers are middle and high school age Boy Scouts from all over northern California and Nevada, sometimes further afield.

If interested PM me or fill out a staff application[url="http://www.gec-bsa.org/camping/campforms"]. Please email a copy of the application to me to expedite processing (wintondirector at gec-bsa.org)

Thanks all for spreading the word and helping people experience the joys of the wilderness.

I think us over at Marin Sierra are still looking for a climbing director as well :P

You guys fixed all the inserts on your wall/ how often do you have to deal with that? I remember teaching camp school there a few years back and having to deal with the sketchy holds. I don't remember the exact details but I remember it being more than just simple spinners, nice tower though with the volumes.

Those chicken coop cabins where cold as balls since there was that freak snow in may. I was intentionally trying to almost overheat my laptop to prewarm my sleeping bag and pillow :P

I suspect you were at another camp for NCS- Camp Winton doesn't have a wall or cabins- all accommodations are tent, even staff quarters. Our climbing is all on natural rock. Were you at Camp Lassen possibly?

Whoops yeah I was getting confused. Too long of a day yesterday.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
