| Hey,
I wanted to get some information on good sport climbs that won't have snow the week after Thanksgiving from Ogden down past Provo.
Plan on doing some snowboarding and hope it snows out there, but want to get some climbing in too. I figure LCC and BCC will have snow.
From searching the site it looks like Rock Canyon may be the best bet but I can't determine if this area will have snow.
No trad rack so only sport routes. I lead up to 5.9 but would also like to find 5.10 top ropes.
What about Schoolroom up near Ogden?
Thanks a bunch. | FLAG |

| The schoolroom should be fine that time of year, it faces west so anytime after the sun comes over the mountain it starts to warm up. | FLAG |

| Sport utility wall, aquaworld, aquaduct wall all sit low and get good sun. "S" curves can also be good, it just depends on snowline. Don't be too optimistic..... | FLAG |

| Schoolrooom and Aguaworld will be your best bets for dry routes. The climbing is much better at Schoolroom, in my opinion. Aguaworld has some good lines but there is also a lot of choss, especially on the west end. Both areas will be a bit limited at 5.9. I have no idea about Rock Canyon.
The only potential issue with Schoolroom that time of year is the approach; it's a steep one up lots of boulders (solid, but could be sketchy with snow). Plan on about 45 minutes to hike up there. | FLAG |

| Don't be put off by the walk: The Galaxy area in Rock Canyon has more than enough climbs for a full day and then some. | FLAG |

| At School Room the Ramp Routes on the northern side of the wall and the Utahnics Wall on the southern end are your best bets for routes in your stated ability. They are also the easiest to get to. The routes there are described on this site. Although it's not my favorite area (due to crowds) 9th street (also in the Ogden area) has easily accessible top rope climbs and the approach is much more friendly than School Room. Have fun and happy climbing! | FLAG |

| I would try Rock Canyon... It has an easy approach in case there´s alittle snow on the ground. | FLAG |

| I like the schoolroom best during the winter when the benches dont hold snow and the sun is shining in the afternoon. In direct sun it feels at least 10-15 degrees warmer. Should be awesome over turkey day unless a big snow hits. Like a bad fisherman I'm giving away my secrets but in feb, if its sunny, 40 degrees, and dry, you dont even have to travel south for good rock. I thinik a 5.9 sport leader could handle the 5.10 slab too. The wall could provide good routes to project your way up to the next level are bolted well with short cruxes. | FLAG |

| I would try the north side of Rock Canyon, I climb there pretty much all winter long. Galaxy area would be good if we haven't had too much snow. Layer Cake, Jobsite, Training Camp, AC/DC and Superbowl if there is snow on the ground.
Also try Hard Rock and Escape Buttress up American Fork if it hasn't snowed yet. | FLAG |

| Thanks for all the suggestions. Good to have options on a seat of your pants road trip. Ibex Mtn. sure looks cool. May have to make a loop out of the road trip. | FLAG |
