| There are notices posted at Rock Canyon today indicating that an agent acting on behalf of Richard Davis has applied for a conditional use permit to quarry rock from Rock Canyon. The notices indicate that there will be an informational meeting for residents of the surrounding Provo neighborhoods at 8am on Saturday, March 28 in Rock Canyon Park. |  FLAG |

At this point it looks like this guy is fighting a losing battle and hopefully he will back off and sell to someone who is interested in conserving the land eventually. I guess we'll see. | Last Saturday, March 28th, there was a public meeting at the mouth of Rock Canyon to announce the submission of a proposal to activate a mining claim in Rock Canyon. The subsequent develop would substantially change the use the look of Rock Canyon. 170 people showed up to the meeting to voice disapproval with Provo City. There is also a protest planned at the steps of the Utah County Courthouse in downtown Provo (the intersection of Center St. and State St.). The protest is Saturday, April 4th, at noon. Future public hearings at the Provo City Counsel have yet to be schedule.
