| Just got back from Whitney on Sunday 6/21. There is snow on the approach from Upper Boyscout Lake all the way up the Mountaineer Route to the summit. Iceberg Lake is still completely under snow and frozen solid except for one hole punched through for getting water. The East Face and the East Buttress are clear of snow but I would advise bringing crampons and a ice axe for the decent down the Mountaineer Route. Everyone is camping at Upper Boyscout Lake to avoid Camping on snow. This adds a mile to the approach. It is possible to do all of these routes car to car. Here are some pictures of the conditions. I will say that went we were leaving it was getting really warm. http://mountainproject.com/v/iana/106469473 http://mountainproject.com/v/iana/106469475 http://mountainproject.com/v/iana/106469480 | FLAG |
