Squeal Like a Pig. 10c. Snag Crag.

I just came across this news clip. This guy sure was lucky to survive.

Just below Thunderbolt Peak

I couldn't find a date...

He must have been unconscious while falling, or been completely inexperienced. I can't really see it being that hard to stop, even if you drop your axe. The gulch isn't that steep.

The broken helmet would make me guess he was unconscious.

Anyway, I'm glad he survived and wish him all the best for a recovery.

I think this happened around the first of the month. Considering that it was 10 PM when he fell, roughly 4-5 hours after dark, it was probably pretty icy. The red banks are steep enough that if you get going, you're going a long way.

Looking down from Notchtop

Alex Lowe took a similar slide on the Devil's Thumb. His partner didn't see him fall and was surprised to see him way down below, brushing himself off from the snow.
