I will be in Peru, NY (near Plattsburgh) for the month of August. I am helping out with my niece after surgery. But I would love to try and climb while I am there. I won't have a car and all I will be able to bring for gear is my harness, shoes and personal safety stuff. I know it's a lot to ask but if someone is willing to take me out and show me the climbing there I would love it. As for skill level... hard to say... normally I can lead 5.8 gear but I have heard the ratings are stiffer there. So until I see it and try it I can't say for sure. Been climbing for 10 years, safe and excellent belayer.
The lady and I sometimes head over to the Daks, and we have yet to check out Poke-O-Moonshine (which you will be 15 minute drive from!). I'm around Burlington and she is in Montreal. Our August is fairly stacked (I have a trip and she is a biologist) but if we get a day to come out that way I'll be sure get in touch and see what you're up to.
Sometimes we head up to Val-David (awesome granite) near Montreal, you could tag along if you want an adventure.
You're probably a better than both of us but I'm sure we can still get some good routes in.
