Fourth Irons. 8 bucks a night. Close to the ice.

Never heard of that place?! Hell, I think that's cheaper than Grandpa Grunts up a Jay Peak ever was. Now I'm scared. :) Thanks for the tip. Google now...

Fourth Irons is a walkin campground near Crawford Notch. 5 minutes to Frankenstein. It is the cheapest option short of back country camping. Certainly not the warmest option.

If you are looking for a roof, heat, running water, I think there is a hostel in N. Conway that is decent price. But I've never stayed there. I've stayed at the Swiss Chalets Hotel in Bartlett, which is bit cheesy-- not nearly as cheesy as the adventure suites-- and not exactly the Ritz, but is reasonably priced by hotel standards in the valley.

It would be good if the Icefest organizers provided information for budget places to stay and even worked out some deals with local hotels.

Seriously, how fun would it be to book a room there for you and your friends and not tell them.
