I have quite a bit of backpacking experience and I always wanted to pull the trigger and get into climbing. I recently loaded up on gear and I'm ready for the season to start but I don't have anyone to go with :(

I am located in central California, I can easily get to Sequoia/Kings or Yosemite. I have basic gear: shoes, helmet, rope, quickdraws, biners, belay, harness, stopper set, chalk bag, cord, I just need someone to go with! I'd try some gyms but I already have a gym membership (they took out the wall last year), and I'm not too hip on getting a second gym membership to a gym an hour away.

I won't kill you on purpose.
I will bring food.
I will buy you beer.

Even if you have some ideas where I might meet other climbers that would be helpful. I haven't been able to find the climbing community here, at least anything with an online presence. Seems weird since there are some pretty iconic climbs in the area, I'm guessing they stay hidden for a reason.

If I don't hear back I'll be the guy wandering around camp 4 trying to make friends.

I'm also down for some backpacking and fishing action. Anyone interested?

Where in central CA are you located? If you ever get over to SLO, we can go climbing.

I am in Visalia, I would be willing to head over to SLO if it fits into my schedule. Shoot me an invite if you;re heading out or I'll message you when I'm thinking of heading that way. Thanks!

If you have absolutely zero experience, it will be hard to find someone willing to show you everything.

- Read some books (freedom of the hills, etc) so you understand the concepts and terms.

- I recommend going to a gym and taking a beginner course anyway. You will learn knots, tying in, basic movements and also meet some other newbs who also need a partner.

- I bet there is a climbing related Meetup in Fresno.

Everyone there is looking to meet people, and the more experienced
people tend to be newb friendly.

happy climbing.

Just saw this. Feel free to come use my bouldering wall any night and I can put you in touch with some other climbers.

I'm out at the Pinnacles every weekend if I'm not in the Valley. I am going up Half Dome this weekend but I am down to climb some time after that
