No option to delete/erase areas

I have an HTC One M7 (HTC6500LVW) w/ android 4.4.3 and there is no option to delete areas when you click on them from the left side swipe. My girlfriend has an LG G2 and she DOES have this option! The Mountain Project banner with the Edit button does not exist on my phone.

How can I get around this to delete areas?

I have an iPhone 6 with limited storage and would like to know how to delete areas from the new app as well

I would agree. I cant use the app right now cause I dont have enough storage and it crashes. I would love to be able to unsync or delete areas.
