Definitely check out the woods - easy to find most boulders and to link up with climbers, just look for the crash pads... Best bet to get started is the warmup cave near Mack's Traverse, always a crowd there.
There's good access further afield up in Conway and the Gunks, welcome to the area!

I sent you a PM. As Tom mentioned all the climbing is a few miles into CT. With the exception of a few 25 ft cliffs there is only bouldering in RI.
The climbRI group that Brian organizes is a great way to meet people. I have enjoyed climbing with everyone I have met through that group, and they get out there very often.

Joe, All tongue-in-cheek. Feel free to trash the old trad climbers who can only red-point 5.1 (on a good day). Truth be told...those long falls actually scare me. I actually boulder sometimes in the dead of winter when I can't actually climb. :-)
