Hi, I'm new to Greenville and looking to climb anywhere within a couple hours of here on a regular basis. Saturday is best.

I'm also interested in going to the Climb @ Blue Ridge gym as I have a membership there. Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday evenings would work for the gym.

Welcome to the Upstate! I don't get out on a rope very often, but I boulder in the Jocassee Gorges a few times a week. Big Rock is a new (actually 35+ year old) resource in Northern Pickens county, about 45 minutes from Greenville, that has roped and boulder routes that are perfect for a full Saturday of fun. Its still pretty hot right now, being south facing, but once the temps drop this area is well worth a visit. I can meet you there and show you around sometime if you'd like? Just PM me to set something up.

Besides these 2 resources in SC, Rumbling Bald and Looking Glass are an hour or so from Greenville, both are legendary crags with incredible roped routes and amazing boulder problems. While you're at the gym, ask around for Jared (the main route setter) and he may be a good partner to get out on a rope with.

whats up Jack? I just took a job in Asheville NC starting Sep 21st. My parents live in Greenville SC and I will likely be making the 1hr commute and occasionally or regularly camping in the Asheville area. I got the rack and ropes just need a reliable partner in the area. I will PM you my contact info. I like to get out and climb 2-3 days a week when possible. I was out at laurel knob a couple weeks ago taking a peek at it, super excited to get up some of the moderate routes there.

Brad whats the Ice season like down there? worth talking about? or just stay warm and wait for spring?

There is not really any ice "near" Greenville...you'll have to hit the Cashiers area, up towards the Blue Ridge Parkway on 215 or up towards Mount Mitchell for the closest ice climbing, all about an hour and half or so from G Vegas.

Brad,

The little I was able to find online about Big Rock seemed very interesting. I'm definitely excited to check that out. Thanks for the offer. I'll PM you to see set that up.

and Kyle,

I am interested in climbing at Laurel Knob too, as well as Rumbling Bald, Looking Glass, Crowders Mt., and any of the other areas nearby. I will text you soon.

Jack,
Welcome to Greenville. Great place to live and convenient to tons of activities. I climb rock, ice, alpine and certainly open to meeting new partners in the Upstate with similar interests.

Tomorrow Saturday Sept 19th my partner had to cancel -- feel to PM me if you are free and want to climb.
