New Paltz Climbing CoOp Fire

Early on Saturday morning Fed 7th, our thriving community space in New York, the New Paltz Climbing CoOperative, burned down. It took multiple local fire departments two hours to put out the flames, and almost 10 hours on the scene. Amazingly, no one was hurt in this catastrophic fire, which is a blessing. Our climbing CoOp, however, is completely gone.
Unfortunately at this point the insurance situation is looking rather bleak. It’s a total nightmare. We have been extremely busy over the past two weeks with lawyers, claims adjusters, and the landlord. At this point we are in a pretty long battle with no end in sight for the time being.
We could really use the support of the extended climbing community in our rebuilding process. Whether that’s through donations of time, money or materials, it all will help us rebuild our community based climbing CoOp.

We've built the Coop before thanks to the help of the community, and we can do it again. It's going to be a long road to recovery, but we appreciate all of your positive energy and generosity.
The climbing community stretches far past the boundaries of the states and countries- we are a global family and we thank you for your support!

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
