New Jersey climb partner

This is actually my first year climbing outdoors so someone who's willing to mentor a bit for a sixer would be perfect. (I like to think) I'm a fast learner, I constantly practice knots for anchors and have read as many books on climbing as I can get my hands on. I've been bouldering for the past few months in a bunch of areas but now feel ready to transition to bigger rock. Mostly climb allamuchy but open to new spots. Have gear, just need a partner/group

I'm up in northish jersey pretty much in the middle of the water gap and allamuchy. I have yet to lead outside but definitely want to learn. How far south jersey, any good areas around there? Definitely interested to link up

Im in the same area(i live in hopatcong)..in your same boat! Looking for someone to help me out and give me knowledge of climbing outside..except im a rock bottom(no pun intended) beginner
Im heading to the gym today but would really like to move outside asap..where in northern jersey are you?

That's awesome, which gym around are you headed to? My opinion is probably biased, but if your new to gym climbing too check out north summit. It's in wind gap so it's a bit of a hike, but definitely worth it. I'm out of Washington, probably 15 minutes or so heading west from hackettstown. If you ever want to try out some climbing outside let me know! Usually if I'm climbing outside I'll be at allamuchy (perfect place to climb and mountain bike the same day). I'm not sure if you've been to Jenny Jump but there are pretty easy/fun Boulder routes everywhere with some pretty good beginner toprope stuff. Haven't been there in a few weeks (we went a lot from February-March) so I'm sure it's a bit more grown in now. We learned a lot there, it's definitely worth checking out.

I went to NJ rock Gym (fairfield) for the first time yesterday, loved it..im a super newbie but it will absolutely be awesome to have some climbing partners in the area, especially since i know nobody who climbes! Allamuchy is literally..5 minutes from my house and Jenny Jump is still not to far from me, about a 15 minute ride ok route 80 ,would love to try some outdoor climbing/bouldering soon especially since the weather has been so nice

everywhere,

I am looking to go to the Gunks this Sunday if you'd like to do some easy multipitch climbs. I live just off exit 137 of the Garden State Parkway.

Otherwise......

Jason and Adrianna,

If you guys want to get together up at the Gunks for some toproping we can do that.

Or, we can all get together also. Any way all of you can make it is fine by me, as long as there's one other proficient belayer. (I'd like to climb too)

Jim

James, don't worry you'll have a proficient belayer. As far as linking up in the Gunks I would definitely be interested to head up there sometime in June (I'm a gunks newbie). Next week however I'm hiking out to mt Marcy and checking out some other peaks in the adk too so a lot of my time has been going toward that trip (haven't been climbing the past few weeks as much as I'd like). I'm down to try to get a group meet up in jersey as well sometime over the next few weeks.

Adrianna, Facebook is probably the slowest way to get a hold of me (I rarely check). If you want to add me on Instagram I check that a bit more often: goodmanmunch

Looking forward to the rest of the season

Hey guys. My name is Matt and Id be happy to take you out. I love meeting new climbers and passing on the knowledge. Newbies always got their psych on. My buddy and I are hitting the gunks in the coming weeks for some Peterskill TR. Get at me if anyone wants to join.

Hey guys, I'm coming home to NJ this summer (Bergen County) 2nd week of June. I've been living and climbing abroad the past few years so I don't know any climbers in NJ/NY so I could use some climbing partners. Even if it's with people new to the sport (as long as you're competent).

I'm part of an amazing climbing community where I live now and I would love to find something like that again back in NJ. Maybe we should find a day to meet at the Fairfield gym.

I'm especially interested in the Green Pond area and the NJ side of the DWG.

About me: safe climber, climbing 2 years, lead 5.11, trad 5.9. Prefer trad.

Awesome! im from Southern sussex co.. Im attentive and take direction pretty well. Also have no issue asking for "clarification" if i dont understand something. Although i am still a super beginner..Will you be home all summer? Have you ever visited Allamuchy, apparently some nice climbing there as well.

Alex, cool to hear your heading back to jersey. So far I've just been top roping (I feel like I'm competent here-happy to learn more tho). Highly interested in starting trad climbing, if your willing to share a few tips that'd be super helpful. When you make it back great idea for a meet up at a gym. Keep everybody updated, could end up being a good climbing community in jersey here this summer
