There is a redesign of the Five Ten Guide Tennies out and a midtop verison as well.

Although I'm wondering how the outsole rapping up onto the midsole will effect it's resole-ablity. Locker any input?

I hope it doesn't really mess with it or there is a work around as I love my guide tennies and always wanted a midtop version.

No point in getting them resoled if theres a huge gaping hole there. I'm a huge fan of these shoes but have never resoled as the shoe is beaten beyond repair by the time the rubber wears out. Thats cool if you are getting multiple resoles out of them. Im stoked about the new outsole wrap.

Really? I always wear out the rubber on every single pair of shoes I've ever owned before the upper. What about the outsole rap are you stoked on?

Talked to my local resoler he said he could probably do it but that the outsole rap would annoy him since he wouldn't be able to get it super clean. Also he's hoping that the mid is still EVA and not some of the other "foam plastics" some companies are using for midsoles since they are harder to glue to/ don't glue as well.

Dave page cobbler in Seattle did a great job resoling my Karakorum boots which have a wrapped toe rand.

My experience has been that by the time I feel the need for new bottom rubber the shoe is really beaten up including the loss of much padding in the sole foam, a hole wearing through the interior heel of the shoe, and general wear on structure of the shoe deteriorate pretty significantly by the time I feel the need for new bottom rubber.

I also have worn holes in my old style guide tennies right where the new rubber wrap is. If you look around, people used to have cobblers sew leather patches there to stop the deterioration.
