A new feature...

On any user page, you can click "Great Stuff" and see a list of contributions that people thought were useful.

Enjoy,
Andy

Oh, this is good fun. Now we can see who voted for their own content. The shame! Now people will have to logout and vote "anonymously" in order to slap themselves on the back.

I hope you don't plan on revealing all of my "not useful" and "poor" judgements.

See, I'm a good girl, Jonny. : )
I didn't vote "Great Stuff" on any guys butt shot, or shirtless photo.

Whew, at least I know about the anonymous trick now.

Oh, and if anyone voted "poor" (even though it is) on my "baby Gigi in trash can" picture, I'll find out where you live, and throw that naked baby doll that's propped on the windowsill right back at you!

Thanks for this useful feature, Andy!

One suggestion: allow logged-in users to vote without disclosing their identity instead of allowing non-logged-in users to vote. Not that it's likely, but allowing non-logged-in users to vote would allow a person to vote multiple times for the same item.

And how about showing lists of average, poor, and not useful stuff? Inquiring minds want to know! :-) :-)

So let them pat themselves on the back- it doesn't matter to anyone else but them... which is who that feedback is supposed to be for - the submitter.
And if self-congratulation and self-promotion actually does make them feel good, maybe it's a cheap replacement for the real counseling they obviously can't afford. So maybe it will keep them busy so they don't go molest kids or do something more destructive.

One more thing. I guess that is karma for saying something so scathing as the previous comment, above:

Apr 25, 2006 Route Tony Bubb UT : Moab Area : Indian Creek : Blue Gramma Cliff : Moon Goddess Revenge (5.11- X)

Another user explained the lack of anchors on a route, but since I posted the route, this automatically gave "me" positive feedback. I tried to designatte that a COMMENT appended was useful but since only a 'THIS PAGE IS USEFUL' option was there... it looks like I voted for my own submission since I can't designate what part of the page I found useful.

So I guess that's a little imprecise/confusing. Now the commentor does not get positive feedback for his contribution and I got positive feedback (from myself in this case) for a contribution that could have been worthless.

I know what was intended, so it hurts nobody, but it is something to think about. Is there a better way to designate what was useful?

Unfortunately, for us guys, there are few and far between shirtless photos of the opposite sex on which to vote...non-anonymously... ;)

This is great, Andy!

A useful extension: when you are viewing a page, and it has several "great" ratings, it would be nice to be able to click on a link and see exactly what the ratings are. Same as viewing a climb and clicking to see the individual difficulty and quality ratings.
Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
