Looking for a partner or two to get into the NE backcountry. Excellent skier but new to full touring backcountry. Have car and homebrew. Mostly weekends but should be able to pull a day or two out during the week.

Tuckerman's. Everything else is crap. DEFINITELY don't go to VT (no snow, zero good terrain).

Just to reiterate: tuck's is the only backcountry place in new england worth leaving boston for. These are not the pows you're looking for...

Ha! VT has most snow in New England and u don't want him to check it? Rather him get dead midseason in Tux? Come'on it's a BIG state with lots of goods. Stowe area is always a cluster but there's tons of BC/side country options.

Just in case the two big belay anchors aren't obvious enough for you, here is where to find the belay station.

I live near Moosilauke. PM me if you want to ski with me there or anywhere in the Whites.

North face of long's.

Agreed. Tuckerman is the ONLY place to backcountry ski on the east coast. Definitely don't venture into the Adirondacks, especially stay away from the bowls on Marcy, Algonquin,Gothics or one of the dozens of slides or the creeks that hold pow most of the season. It's not worth your drive.

Also, if you're headed to the Daks, shoot me a pm.

I'm glad everybody is still uber protective of their stash. I was hoping MP would be a bit more grown up about that.

Peter, will ping you when there is a base. Happy to get on the manmade stuff while we wait, too.

Im from montreal and always looking for new partners. The chic chocs mountains in gaspe peninsula have some of the best terreain in the east. Totally worth the trip. I go there a couple of times a year, let me know if you need any info about that region.

For a nice short trip from boston check out Mt cardigan in nh. Some good runs there. I've got another very secret spot with great runs in the s.nh area, but that area is similar to Farley ledges in MA, it is open with limited access and there is nothing in print about it, shoot me a PM if you ever want to check it out. And MO we should hit up Jay sometime. Thats what I consider my hometown mtn even tho it 3.5 hors away

LOVE Jay.

Picked up the Goodman book and pretty pumped on Cardigan. Really pumped for this season.

Funny.. I consider Jay my home mountain too (except for me it's 6hrs)!!! It's so awesome up there. Next weekend is gonna be good. Cold weather all week and a weekend storm rollin in. I got a room booked at Grampa Grunts already! AKD slides have always looked like an awesome time but heard many can only take a few descents before they are toast.

I have to agree wither above, I've lived in Vt my entire life and the skiing is awful everywhere but Jay Peak. Hit that up until spring and then head to Tucks....

That being said, I live in Bridgewater, and I could show you a pretty sucky spot or two. PM for info.

Ya.. what a fuckin' character, huh? I was at his funeral last year. His passing was sad but it was a nice service... I ride with his son, Brad, whenever I'm up there. He raised some pretty awesome kids! Brad and his sister Karie are running the lodge and have made a ton of improvements but have kept it classy as always ;-) In his last few years Ted bought a white stretch Cadillac (like late 80s early 90') and pimped it out with off road tires and used to drive us around town boozing it up just for fun. Hey here's a fun one... Did you know ted was the first paid ski patroller in the county? His first wife too was a patroller and I wanna say first woman patroller in the country. They loved Jay so much their first kid was named Jay and he went on to found Smokin' Snowboards in Tahoe and now produces like 8000+ boards a year!
